Below is a list of capital renewal initiatives for which we received $17 million in state funding in May 2019. Each initiative consists of a list of projects and their approximate cost. The capital renewal projects were prioritized using the following criteria:
- Is this project critical for the building to operate and for people to have access?
- Will this project contribute to student, faculty and staff success?
- Are there other matching funds available for this project?
Improving Campus Access - $2.7 million
- Community Hall slope accessibility - Phase 1
- Accessibility barrier removal

Improving Fire and Life Safety Systems and Structural Resilience - $8.3 million
- Cascade Hall fire alarms and sprinklers and seismic strengthening
- Cordley Hall fire alarms and sprinklers, lighting and classroom upgrades for 1109
- Burt Hall fire alarms and sprinklers
- Hatfield Marine Science Center upgrades - visitor center
Improving Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing Systems - $2.7 million
- District chiller plant (replaces chillers for Burt Complex - trade with E&G funds)
- Alumni Center rooftop units
- Standby power program for Gilbert and Wiegand Halls
Improving Utilities and Site Work - $2 million
- Street improvement and renewal program
